Analysis: The 38-year-old Giambi signed a minor league contract with the Rockies Aug. 24 and was assigned to Triple-A Colorado Springs. He hit .444 (8-for-18) with four RBI and six walks in six games. He hit homers in back-to-back games Aug. 29-30. Before joining the Rockies, Giambi hit .193 (52-for-269) with 11 home runs and 40 RBI in 83 games for the Oakland Athletics this season. He played 58 games at first base before the club released him Aug. 7. |
